Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups of Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour blended with 1 ⅓ cups of quick-cooking oats, along with a ⅔ cup of lightly packed light brown sugar, a hint of ground cinnamon, a touch of baking soda, a pinch of salt, a dash of ground nutmeg, and 1 cup of cold butter that has been cut into pieces.
- To this mixture, add in 5 medium-sized cooking apples that have been peeled, cored, and thinly sliced, along with a can of EAGLE BRAND® Sweetened Condensed Milk and a jar of SMUCKER'S® Caramel Flavored Topping (reserving some for later).
- Sprinkle in a cup of chopped walnuts for extra crunch and flavor. Serve this delightful concoction with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Begin by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg in a spacious bowl. Use a pastry blender or two knives to blend in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Remember to set aside 1 3/4 cups of the crumb mixture. Press the rest of the crumb mixture onto the base of a 13 x 9-inch baking pan without greasing it. Bake for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.
Step 2
Once the crust has partially baked, neatly arrange sliced apples over it. In a separate bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk with 1/2 cup of caramel topping until well mixed. Gently pour this mixture evenly over the apples. Enhance the reserved crumb mixture by adding walnuts and then sprinkle this delightful mixture over the layer of apples.
Step 3
Bake your creation for 45 to 50 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden. Allow it to cool in the pan on a wire rack. For serving, enjoy it warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and an extra drizzle of caramel topping for an added touch of sweetness.
